AAfrican Elephant is a bold, expressive portrait of one of nature's most magnificent animals. With its enormous ears, sweeping tusks, and unmistakable presence, the elephant commands attention without needing to do much of anything.
I wanted to capture the strength and character of the animal while taking a few liberties with color and form. Broad, energetic brushstrokes and a palette of rich earth tones, turquoise, golden yellow, and deep red create an abstract backdrop that blends into the elephant itself. The combination of recognizable features and loose, expressive painting gives the piece a sense of movement and personality.
There's something fascinating about an animal that can be both incredibly powerful and remarkably gentle. African Elephant celebrates that contrast, combining the beauty of wildlife with a little artistic freedom. After all, nature provides the inspiration, but there's no rule that says I have to stay inside the lines.
