Patina Rabbit is a playful portrait of a familiar woodland creature with a slightly unexpected appearance. Rather than the soft browns and grays of an ordinary rabbit, this fellow sports a rich turquoise finish reminiscent of aged bronze or weathered copper.

I wanted to give the rabbit the presence of a small sculptural object, something that might have been sitting in a garden for decades, slowly developing its distinctive patina. The warm, earthy background provides a beautiful contrast to the cool blue-green tones, while loose brushwork and dark outlines give the animal a sense of weight and character.

There's something amusing about a rabbit sitting so perfectly still, looking almost as though it's posing for an official portrait. Patina Rabbit combines a little humor, a little mystery, and my fondness for taking ordinary subjects and making them just a bit unusual.
