Terracotta Rabbit
Sometimes a painting has a mind of its own.
Terracotta Rabbit started out with a completely different look. My original intention was to give the rabbit the warm, earthy appearance of a terracotta sculpture. But once I got into the painting, I wasn't particularly happy with how it looked. So I changed direction, traded the terracotta for silver, and gave the background a vibrant turquoise finish.
The result is a silver rabbit with a dramatic shadow and a slightly mysterious personality. I liked the contrast between the metallic tones and the colorful background, and the simplicity of the composition gives the rabbit plenty of character.
As for the name? I decided to keep Terracotta Rabbit. It's a reminder that sometimes the best part of creating art is not knowing exactly where you'll end up.
