Queen’s Gambit explores femininity, power, and strategy through a cast of intertwined figures inspired by the visual language of Cubism. Three women overlap and intersect, each possessing her own expression and personality while becoming part of a larger, almost theatrical composition.
References to playing cards, bold patterns, and checkerboard forms introduce the idea of a game in progress, where every move carries intention. The central figure commands the composition, surrounded by faces that seem at once allied, competitive, and connected. Earthy reds, greens, golds, and muted neutrals give the piece warmth while strong black contours hold its fractured forms together.
Queen’s Gambit plays with the idea that strength isn’t always about making the loudest move. Sometimes it is knowing the board, understanding the players, and deciding exactly when to make your move.
