Eyeballs
Eyeballs is an exploration of faces, expressions, and the curious ways we see one another. A crowd of overlapping characters fills the canvas, each seemingly looking in a different direction, yet somehow connected to the others.
Inspired by my fascination with Cubism, I broke apart traditional facial features and rearranged them into a tightly woven composition of eyes, noses, and mouths. Deep burgundy lines dominate a warm cream background, while subtle touches of turquoise, green, and yellow add unexpected color and depth. The exaggerated features and repetition of shapes create a rhythm that keeps the eye moving from one face to the next.
I've always been intrigued by how much personality can be conveyed through a simple expression, particularly the eyes. With Eyeballs, there's no single subject or focal point. Instead, it's a collection of characters, each with something to say, even if none of them are talking.
